Name : Nicholas V Griffin
DOB :22nd July 1950
I am a mature student in the third and final year of the BA Course in Fine Art at Margaret Street, Birmingham. My current research, practice and skills lie in the exploration of the relationships between the artist, sculpture and landscape and their recording by photography, video and text. I wish to pursue my academic interest in the philosophy and history of contemporary art.
Artistic Education
2011 – present BA (Hons) Fine Arts, Birmingham City University.
2009 – 11 Foundation Art and Design (Part Time), Birmingham City University. Passed with Distinction.

2012, 2013 Gertrude E Griffin Award for Advancing the Study of Design, Birmingham City University.

Work Experience
Having graduated in Medicine at Bristol University in 1975 I embarked upon a career in psychiatry and became a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist in Birmingham in 1982. In 1996 I became Clinical Director of a Secure Psychiatric Service in Stafford, was Medical Director of the Foundation NHS Trust for 2 years, and gained further temporary Trust Board experience as Interim Chief Operating Officer of South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Trust for three months before retiring in 2009.

MB, ChB, BSc (Hons), FRCPsych.
Lecturing Commitments
Throughout my medical career I lectured on topics related to general and forensic psychiatry to trainee doctors, medical students, prison psychologists, magistrates and other health care and criminal justice professionals.
1987 – 1996 Honorary Senior Lecturer in psychiatry at the University of Birmingham.
1981 – 1983 Lecturer in adult psychiatry, and one time member of the Course Board of Studies, for Diploma and Honours BSc courses in speech therapy at Birmingham Polytechnic (Now Birmingham City University)

Related Pursuits
I have a lifelong love of walking in uncultivated landscapes and a consuming interest in the phenomenology of prehistoric remains, which together amount to a form of psychogeography which influences my practice of Land Art. Recently acquired preferences for reading and watching the Television include Science Fiction and archaeology.
